The Peninsula Bicycling Association (PBA) is a bicycle touring and social club for people of all ages. Club cycling is the best way to get into riding on a regular basis, meet other cyclists, and learn about equipment, riding techniques, and the best places to ride on and off the Peninsula. The PBA offers rides, both road and off-road, in Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, York County, James City County, and off the Peninsula in areas such as Smithfield, Surry, Isle of Wight County, Gloucester and Mathews. The rides range from slow, short and easy with lots of stops, to long, fast-paced rides recommended only for the well-conditioned, experienced cyclist. In other words, there is something for everyone. COME RIDE WITH US!

Funds are currently being raised to repair this exact scale replica of a 19th-century coal-fired steam locomotive, which was taken out of service in spring 2005. For 41 years, the Pokey Smokey traveled through Portsmouth City Park on weekends between April and October. When it was in operation, the Pokey Smokey was an authentic scale model of a steam locomotive, and a conductor shoveled coal and blew a steam whistle while taking passengers on a 5-minute ride around Portsmouth City Park. The Pokey Smokey ran from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Call the Portsmouth Community Foundation at (757) 397-5424 to make a contribution toward the Pokey Smokey Fund.
